This website carries well researched articles, papers, thesis resulting from primary and secondary research techniques on topical areas of socio-political and socio-cultural concerns about Belize and Belizeans.

It is the initiative of Mrs. Myrtle Palacio, a Belizean of Garifuna and Creole descent. Mrs. Palacio has contributed several publications and papers to the socio-cultural and socio-political dialogue on Belize. Between 1998 and 2000 she maintained a column in the Amandala Newspaper entitled “Kom Een Da Me Mek Ahm”.

Yesterday was a cultural participatory experience both of the Roman Catholic Church and the Garifuna culture. My ethnographic and other qualitative research techniques was quickly put to action.

The name “Glessima” is synonymous with concepts such as, productive, assertive, committed, independent, as these characterized the Garifuna woman so christened in the early 1900’s.
